Children may not even know on a conscious level that they are having difficulties, but this may come through in presenting challenging behaviour. Perhaps the child has faced a significant change? Maybe they are being bullied or having difficulties with friendships?. Are they withdrawn or having difficulty expressing their feelings? These are just some examples of circumstances in which children and teenagers could benefit from therapy.
Depending on the nature of the difficulties, therapy is recommended for a minimum of 12 weeks, This allows time for the therapeutic relationship to form and the child to engage. Sessions will be on a weekly basis, for 40-45 minutes depending on age.
Due to the increasing waiting list and an increase in enquiries for younger children, a parent support programme has been developed in an attempt to ensure mental health support is as accessible as possible. This will entail parent meetings only, and strategies and advice will be given to support the child before/instead of therapy if it is thought to be appropriate.
Please get in touch at enquiries@sunrisetherapycentre.co.uk and we can arrange a consultation appointment. We can go through everything there, you can tell me about what has brought you to seeking support for your child and ask any questions you may have. You are under no obligation to commit to therapy, this is just a chance to find out more and see if you think you want to go ahead.
